Wiggle

Anyone ever had parts missing from a wiggle order? Bought a Garmin Edge 500 with cadence but it is missing the magnet that goes on the pedal arm (took me a while to realise that's why it wouldn't work but that's a more embarrassing story!)
Emailed them a week ago and only just had a reply asking me to photograph everything but not saying what I should do? My enquiry was basically could they send me one or would I have to return the whole unit and get replacement? In the meantime I have used the edge and all works ok apart from cadebce so not sure where i stand?

Can you even get the magnets separately?
Cheers

Not had anything missing from a Wiggle order... was the Garmin factory sealed?

It's a funny looking thing, sure it's still not in the box or thrown out by mistake?

Not really the point, as it could be missing, but you could get a cheap neodymium magnet from ebay and slap it on the pedal like the following as it looks neater:

I got some wheels with a missing skewer. Sent the 'photos as requested and Wiggle sent me the skewer; I did not need to pack up the whole wheel and send that back. Apparently, they use the 'photos to try to work out what went wrong when packaging the order--and probably to confirm that they haven't set you an Edge 810 by mistake!
(I'm pretty sure that you can get the magnets separately too.)
    Cheers

  • From previous posts and my own experience (and no offence meant) are you sure the magnet wasn't/isn't stuck to another part.

No offence taken - at first I thought I was just being an idiot as was first time I've ever had cadence. Definitely not there. The sensor that goes on the chain stay and spoke magnet but nothing for the pedal.

    VTech cheers I appreciate that.

unless they changed the design, the garmin crank magnets tend to fall off and get lost quite quickly, i lost a couple then gave up on them

a better option is to buy a pack of neodymium magnets on ebay, you'll get several 5x5x2mm for 2-3 quid (or get a pack of assorted sizes), these can be stuck on to cranks and spokes with epoxy or *gel* superglue, the results are neater and more reliable

  • Must have been sealed in the packet, and was dropped/lost when opened.

Any magnet will work. Wiggle wouldnt open the package, lose the magnet and reseal it.
Either Garmin didnt pack it, or its fallen out when you've installed it. The second option is probably the most likely.
