Buying Someone Else's Insurance Replacement Bike

I've seen a few listings in the classified section where a person claims that they were burgled or otherwise had their bike stolen. The insurance company replaced the bike but the owner has decided to sell it on. Are these adverts legitimate? Is there anything wrong in buying such a bike, other than a non-transferable warranty?

So long as they got the paperwork it should be legit. Also bear in mind as a second hand buyer despite it being a 'new' bike you may not have the same warranty cover as the seller did.Lapierre Spicy 516 XTR custom (2013) -http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=129323320

Yep many warranties only apply to the original owner and are not transferable. But the paperwork should help prove its all legit and give you confidence with the sale. But that's the same with any second hand sale, treat it as such and you'll fine.0
