My 9yr old son has been racing for nearly two seasons now and we promised to upgrade his old Decathlon 650c bike for his birthday. We found something rather nice for him.
Aluminium 7005 Aero tubed frame with Carbon forks.
Shimano 105 10spd Gears with short reach Microshifters.
Aero Carbon Seat Post with a neat dual clamp system for exact saddle positioning.
Culprit's own brand chainset looks better than Shimano's 105 with pressed chainrings.
Token Deep Section wheels (40mm back/30mm front) with bladed spokes look the business.
All in all, very happy indeed. Son is over the moon and his mates are dead jealous!!
Not cheap but there doesn't appear to be anything else available for kids with this level of equipment on.

Looks very nice, Cervelo P2 set up as a road bike could hit that geometry, would be even more expensive though!Jibbering Sports Stuff: http://jibbering.com/sports/0

For £1000 you could easily upgrade a Moda Major to a similar spec. Difficult to justify though.0 -
