And old friend of mine in SA (old in both senses of the word) is a semi pro - her partner is huge, she's the tiny (5' nothing) engine at the back. She tells me he just steers. Just XC though it gets pretty rough. They have lions instead of bunnies.

Tandem MTBs go bloody fast down hills because of the momentum, also virtually impossible to go over the bars. Not great at tight switchbacks though!0
