What sort of riding? XC, Trail or hardcore?
What sort of condition is the 'hopper and components, upgrading may be an option to consider!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
Depends what you want to do with it but check out the Boardman MTB's for very well specced XC bikes for the money. The Team Hardtail is £849 and the Pro at £999.2012 Boardman FS Team

I've just got a Norco Nitro 9.1 (29er) from Evans on Sale at £990 http://www.evanscycles.com/products/norco/nitro-91-2013-mountain-bike-ec046766
It's lightweight, well spec'd and a very nice ride.
Mine came with the X9 rear mech not the X7 as outlined at online but I could have got lucky0 -
The Boardmans are more trail, for pur XC this is good value...

I'd look at the classifieds on here and pinkbike TBH, i bought my Saracen brand new still in box and packaging in the classifieds for £1000....which i'm led to believe its a bargain.
You get loads of new bikes at really cheap prices, you just need a little patience.0
