What sort of riding? XC, Trail or hardcore?
What sort of condition is the 'hopper and components, upgrading may be an option to consider!

Depends what you want to do with it but check out the Boardman MTB's for very well specced XC bikes for the money. The Team Hardtail is £849 and the Pro at £999.

I've just got a Norco Nitro 9.1 (29er) from Evans on Sale at £990 http://www.evanscycles.com/products/norco/nitro-91-2013-mountain-bike-ec046766

It's lightweight, well spec'd and a very nice ride.

Mine came with the X9 rear mech not the X7 as outlined at online but I could have got lucky

I'd look at the classifieds on here and pinkbike TBH, i bought my Saracen brand new still in box and packaging in the classifieds for £1000....which i'm led to believe its a bargain.

You get loads of new bikes at really cheap prices, you just need a little patience.
