Buying a Frame from the US...

At the end of July I'm lucky enough to be visiting my brother in Tahoe, California. Unfortunately it is not for biking (although i will try to squeeze a ride in!), but I'm planning on possibly buying a new frame whilst out there. My questions are:
1. Would I have to pay import tax/charges on entry back into the UK if I took the frame boxed up on the plane?
2. If i posted it back to the UK whilst out there would I have to pay import tax/charges when receiving it in the UK?
3. Which would be the better option of the two above?
Any help from anyone who has had experience with this sort of thing would be greatly appreciated as always!

Neither be prepared to pay 4.7% + VAT on what ever amount the recipt is for. ( if posted there could also be a handling charge).
The only way for not tax is proving you have owned it for some time. IIRC 3 months. When you personally bring I into the UK. as part of your personal possessions."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Talk to the shop, they might do it tax free for export with a pick up at the airport, then you pay UK taxes when you get back.0

don't forget any aftersales issues will probably have to go through the original shop in the US as I doubt the UK distributors will want to help you out.0
