i bought the above part for my shimano 5700 chain.
ive received it and it says for use with sram 10 speed chains only
this is not apparent from chain reactions description
ive half fitted it the links havent yet been pulled fully through the small hole if that makes sense
will this powerlink work?
and any ideas on how to get pulled that final bit so its properly connected?
thanks

it is not a powerlink but a powerlock, not reusable for 10spd. and of cause the makers will say for there own product only as they dont test with other makes of chain.
generally if the speed is the same there are no issues as the chains are the same width."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

^^^this
a powerlock link needs force to complete fitting...
position the link so it is on the top length of the chain
apply the rear brake and hold the bike steady
then push on one of the pedals to increase chain tension until the link clicks and locks into positiommy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
great sun god! sorted0

I use the sram powerlock on Shimano cahins - no problems. I also re-use them as well - never had any problems doing so.0

The 7/8/9 are powerlinks, the 10/11 are powerlocks. If you search around, you will find that people are reusing powerlinks but not the powerlocks (one use only)0

Nope, I re-use the SRAM 10spd powerlock on shimano 10spd chains.0

Me too, used the same one at least a dozen times now with no probs.0
