I've been trying to find out what the torque values for the swing arm on my 2013 FS since the main pivot came lose the other day.

Just spoke to Halfords to get their advice and thought I'd share it with you fine people, I'm sure you like a laugh.

This is apparently from their Boardman specialist

"If there is a specific torque value for a fixing on the bike it will be printed on the bolt.. If there isnt then it wont be a safety critical location and its fine to tighten it up with an allen wrench as tight as you can"

Utter rubbish obviously!
How can the suspension pivot fixings not be safety critical!!
I'm fairly sure that the chap was confusing a bolts strength, which is usually stamped into the bolt and instead thinking that is the torque required. Bloody idiots.

Anyway, would anyone recommend a sensible torque for me? Open to offers!

And the bolt size is? And it breads into what material? And the bolt is what grade?

I knew I could count on you for a cutting response Nick. How I've missed these forums!

Bolt is M6, assuming ally unless the frame is accidentally made from Kryptonite and no idea, doesn't say. Looks stainless though so possibly A2-70 maybe A4-80.

My bike (not a Boardman) has steel inserts so the bolts are not fastening into aluminium and I do them up tight.
    Unfortunately I don't have a torque wrench.
