    And another one...

I went into Evans at Chill Factore on Friday and bough a jacket, I also chose some shoes and some 105 pedals that were both not in stock , the sales guy said that if I opted for OEM pedals they'd be exactly the same but unboxed fine I thought I've been shooping on CRC for years so aint fussed and I tried the exact same shoes on but in a different colour.

I was told I'd get an email on monday or tuesday to say my items were in stock.

Imagine my utter disgust when the damn thing arrived on Sunday because they'd arrived early. In an blind rage I drove around the M60 and presented my reciept to the lady behind the counter who then produced, to my disgust, a pair of BOXED pedals!

So I got premium parts earlier than I had been advised, come on Evans pull it together!

    Hello there,

I understand you. I'm having a problem now with evans cycle because I just bought a bike with them and I was really exited until 2 days ago they send me an email saying that my bike It will be delayed. until the 5 of july.. And now They tell me that sorry.. We expect to have your bike the 14 of july. What??? Come on. 1 month waiting for my bike, I feel really annoyed. And the worst part is that they can change the date apparently. I dont understand how is possible that they sold my bike when I bought it It was in stock. And now like magic is'nt. :x :? ...

Do you people (1 & 2 posts) just google "bad service from evans" and sign up to have a little on screen rant?

I bet you feel much better for it

I also have had a extremely bad experience with Evans cycles and there staff in the Norwich City store.
I bought a Pinicle dolomite 3 2015 model for £555, I was told that this sale price was only on offer for the next four days which was not the case, it's still the same price now 3 months later, I felt pressurised by these misleading sales tactics.
Apon buying the bike I started experiencing problems from the start, the bike had many issues and faults, after taking the bike back the the store more than 7 times with these faults they decided to replace the bike. The replacement bike after about a week started showing the same faults. I took it back to the store and showed them the faults and they told me I was creating them my self which was Certainly not the case, I then showed them what gears where causing the issues and they witnessed the clonking noses them selfs they asked me to bring the bike back 4 days later which I disagreed too as I was fed up being made to feel uncomfiable by the staff and my confidence in them fixing it had gone. I raised a complaint to customer services about my problems and concerns with the sales tactics and quality of the bike, I received a email telling me that it's my fault the faults are happening due to not having a good chain line when using the gears, I'm fully aware of the importance or a good chain line and have used the gears correctly and have not cased these faults.

    Regards
    Andrew

Reading the single post rants above makes me wonder just how bad the education system is in this country. Those posts are so poorly written I'm not surprised they got the service they did. Seems unlikely anyone that stupid would be able to put a coherent argument together in the heat of dispute.

I don't doubt that Evans are sh1te - they are to the bike industry what McDonalds are to gourmet food - but I have some sympathy for the poorly trained and paid staff there having to deal with the muppetshow represented above

I bought a skirt from them, size 18, but it was actually much tigher than that.

    I'm furious.

I bought some boots from Evans and got a bollocking from the RSM - nice knee high ones especially for the winter they were as well......

  • Seem to be a lot of new posters writing horror stories about Evans.
Maybe they are true but I would never trust someone's first post, particularly when other members with single figure posts start joining in.

Smells a bit like an online slur campaign to me.

I've had dealings with Evans a couple of times. Both were uneventful and both were because they offered the best value on that item.

My experience with Evans so far is way bellow satisfactory as well.

I use my bike only to commit to work, and I commit 3-4 times a week)

    just be cautious.

There is no way I can commit to my work 3-4 times a week, I'm staying cautious.

My thoughts exactly, having just discovered this thread.
I like Evans as a shop, If anyone offers to buy me vouchers for birthday/Christmas then I usually request Evans as it is, in my opinion,a nice place to shop.I think it is one of those outlets that will be sadly missed if it disappears from the high street. I really hope it doesn't.

Personally Evans made me physically sick the other day.

I "needed" some Ultegra cranks but refuse to pay full retail for something so bland so looked in their ex display and clearance section. Found some for £66, ex display.

They arrived two days later, boxed and bubble wrapped, perfect condition. Allegedly they are marked (as stated i the sales blurb) but buggered if I can see where.

Damn them and their ways of making you spend even more money with them.

Grrrrrr, that whole good quality, low price combination makes me so angry.

I know exactly how you feel.

I was so particularly enraged on this occasion that I thought "well, funk you Evans, you're not going to get away with it this time - your arse is mine" that I went back and looked for some brakes that a friend bought before I had the chance to.

And - to rub salt in wounds - these were perfect as well.

They'll get you if you're not careful - you watch out there.
