Hi, I have just got a Giant Anthem 29er 3. I need a set of slick puncture resistant tyres for her as i take part in long distance sportives,(don't worry she spends most of her time on singletrack!!!). Anybody got any ideas? Not worried about weight just want to roll well and not stop for punctures! Will 700 tyres fit? Thanks Steve

Yep, 700c tyres are the same diameter.

I've got these on my 29er, done around 500 miles so far with no problems at all - http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/TYV ... ipe___37mm

What's the minimum width you could put on (on a average-ish MTB XC rim) do you think. Presumable 700 x 23c aint gonna work ;)

Depends on rim width. If it's 22 or above, you need to start looking at 28mm upwards (more like 35mm if you don't want it to look silly).

Thanks. now looking at 700 x 38 maybe Schwalbe Marathon Plus . Only used as 2nd set for long road distance.

You'll find the Marathons really, really heavy. Very good puncture protection, but if you want to go fast pick a tyre that's half the weight or all that extra rotational mass will make the bike feel sluggish and unresponsive/slow.

Have got Schwalbe marathon Supremes in the end in 700x40c size. Have been pleased with them so far. On the Wiggle Wight epic tomorrow, lets see how they manage. Thanks
