Hi all, bike newbie here currently restoring my townsend KX100.
At the moment is has 15 speed shimano quick shift gears on, im really not a fan of the hand shifters after having problems with these in the past and they are pretty worn out which is going to make the finished product look rubbish. I can get a newer set for £10 but i've been looking at other 15 speed options such as the thumb shift type, can I just buy a thumb shift set and connect these up or will this not be compatible?

Try an LBS.
These parts are more BSO type bike these days.
I bought a second hand Apollo for £10 with fully working gears that had these on and swapped them over to the 'better' bike.0 -
Normal trigger shifters are a direct swap.....cable pull is the same.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
