Under spanner icon, system, map, map information select map, what do you get as choices?

I would try removing and replacing the micro sd card in the first instance.

The basemap is so lacking in detail that you will need to be zoomed a long way to see anything. (about 5km scale) What maps are on the card?

Does the SD card work in another device (can your computer see it for example?)

The trail bundle should have OS Discoverer maps also. If only the base maps are listed then it isnt reading the OS maps from the card - has the card popped out? Have you tried taking it out, cleaning the contacts and putting it back in? Maybe the card/file have gone corrupt?

Have a look at these links and I think you will find salvation.
On the first link, near the beginning, is a link to 'talkytoaster' to source the maps you require free of charge. Both links mention your issue of a white background and how to fix it.
    Good luck, hope this helps.

Yes i have read about using OSM maps from TT. Always been unsure of using them for some reason :?:

i supose if i use them mapsets from TT i dont need the discoverer ones that are included on the card. But i would like to have them back as a back up .

Sorry, should have said that you need to follow the link to talkytoaster and then the FAQ which talks about the odd background issue he has.
I was TRYING to be helpful and whilst he MIGHT not need new maps, others may. Perhaps being fairly new to cycling and this forum I got carried away and a tad excited that I might be able to assist somebody else and if his map has disappeared he just maybe does require new and the link will assist him to acquire them at no cost.

THe OS maps are far superior to the OSM maps (Acronym much?)

The OSM/Talkie toaster maps are very good on the road though, better than the Garmin ones IMO

Corrected that - in my opinion

The OS maps are rubbish when they zoom in at a turning point because the detail is not there and they go all blurry (i.e. next to useless).

yeah, the base map is next to useless. Don't tknow why they bother with it. That said it's really worth getting the OS maps to work (if only so you can sell the card to me ;) ).

You dont need it, but you paid for it. Even if you dont want it, then you could sell it for a few quid (its expensive bought separately).
