Looking to get my Dolan Ares in AN post colours repainted or just the decal colour changed. Any ideas of good spray shops or do Dolan do this directly? Not too much green to cover as the picture below shows

  • Can I ask why? I love that frame/ colour scheme!

However....I'd contact Dolan directly for a price, or try C&G Finishes also in Merseyside. They did a good job of re spraying an old Dolan alu winter frame for me and can source all decals for you.

Thanks. I really like it to. However, i was gifted a set of american classic wheels and the colours clash. The wheels on the bike in picture are now on another bike. I just thought the red on the wheels was a bit much.

    I may be wrong

  • No offence, but do yourself a favour and leave the Ares alone and address the quite frankly hideous graphics on the wheels!

Getting rid of the AC decal blurb will be cheaper by far and the wheels will look 100% better. They'll also look cool on the Ares. Are the decals on top of the laquering or below? Failing that, you could have some green decals made up to transpose over the red ones?

Re spraying a great frame to suit the wheels is a bit backward IMO...

I have to agree with you. The decals are under the laquer. With me not paying for these I need to make them work. I think I will look into getting the wheel decals re-done.

Chris, leave that wonderful paint job alone. Sort the wheels.

You'll go to hell if you repaint the bike and leave the wheels as they are. Your only hope is to burn the wheels as a sacrifice to the gods and hope that they forgive you. They probably won't......

Take the wheels to a car boot sale, people will buy anything. leave it for someone else to figure what to do with them.

I think if you go to an American Classic dealer you can buy the 2013 graphics that are way more subtle. I've got the same style ACA420's on my Dolan (see the Your Road Bikes section!) and actually quite like them on.
  • Why don't you just sell the wheels before you ride them too much and get another good second hand set of ksyriums or whatever?

Why did the wheels in the original pic migrate to another bike anyway? Would the ACs not look better on this other bike?
