What's the difference between Shimano and Campag cables

Well my last whats the difference thread is going so swimmingly I thought I'd ask the forum another question.

What is the difference (if any) between the fittings on cables for campag and shimano shifters and brakes?

The nipples are different sizes.

One's made by Shimano to fit Shimano stuff and the other is made by...... well you get the idea.

Apart from the diff in the nipples I'm pretty sure Campag gear cable is 1.1mm stainless slick cable like SRAM whereas Shimano is 1.2 - brakes are the same diameter AFAIK
