I subscribe to Eurosport player. HD quality if the feed is HD.
Works nicely from Xperia phone with mini hdmi cable to Bravia tv.

The stream seems to max out at 2500kbps when fullscreen (1680x1050 for example) although I don't know what the un-scaled resolution is at that point.

Have they developed an app for Samsung Smart TV's - I'm interested ?- I have a samsung smart pvr and there ins't an app available. obviously the browser is very lightweight so wont support silverlight either.
So I stream from a laptop - but it means it cant be used for anything else at the same time.
The tour by the way is live on terrestrial together with highlights in the evening iirc

Yes samsung now have an Eurosport app just released. Yes itv4 have good coverage of the tour, do you know is if ITV4 broadcast the tour in hd? as I was thinking about buying a second hand sky hd box and pairing it with my viewing card as I don't want to sign up for a 12 month contract.

I signed up for the Eurosport player to watch the Giro and think that the coverage is excellent but like all streaming services it is very dependent on what connectivity/download speed/reliability you already have. You can sign up for a month at a time for only £5 so I reckoned it was worth a punt. I renewed for 12 months at £2.99 which is still as cheap as chips.

The major problem with Eurosport player is that the shows seem to be on all over the place. For some reason they haven't caught on to the concept that people will watch programmes more if they are regular. The Giro highlights would be on at 17:00 one day, 23:30 the next day and then the next stage wouldn't have any highlights shown at all! The Criterium Dauphine was even worse and the Tour of California was just a joke really (with many stages just not on screen). In addition, there seems to be no cycling catch up programmes available on demand so if you miss a show that isn't repeated later/the next day then it is tough luck. Still, for £2.99 a month I reckon I get good value!

Have to say though, loads of cycling on, stuff I didn't even know about :)

Ok will sign up for one month and see what its like. speed shouldn't be a problem as ours averages about 70mb and stays very consistent. The only problem is not being able to record it.
    Cheers.

I think its the quality of the feed that Eurosport get that is the issue - not the UK end. a relatively small pipe in the UK should be fine for HD. Weather also plays a factor - with one mountain stage of the giro iirc consisting of a camera at the finish line - apparently the feed was relayed by helicopter and the quailty was not broadcastable.

each race has different feed foibles ! but generally its getting better and more reliable - with most .7mbs or above. If you have problems - follow them on twitter - as thats where they seem to highlight any issues/reprogramming that they do.

Good news on the samsung app - will have to try that !! = dont know about any HD plans for itv4.

for all its faults eurosport player is a nice way to get away from SKY/Murdoch at areasonable price

It now also works really well on the Kindle Fire HD, they fixed teething problems earlier in the year. Picture quality through the computer can sometimes be patchy, but I don't miss paying the Sky subscription. I got Eurosport at a £1.99 montly deal, so might be worth checking what's currently available.

There are also a large number of "on demand" videos, but it seems that not all cycle events are available.

You can record it using VLC Media Player. http://www.ehow.com/how_2101694_network-stream-vlc-media-player.html
