Bought my first ever Road Bike

Hi all,
I haven't been out on a bike much for years and years, and after following some friends round who are just getting into their road bikes, using one of their mountain bikes, I decided I needed to treat myself, so, I got looking, and bought what to me seems a nice bike, you may disagree, but for a first road bike, I think i'm happy.
They guy who I bought it off has just upgraded to a new bike, and swapped most bits that he'd upgraded onto his new bike, hence I ended up with mainly new bits on my bike...
BRAND NEW Shimano 105 front and rear derailers and shifters st 5700
Brand new shimano wheels aero wh r501
Brand new continental ultra race tyres and tubes
Brand new bar tape
Fsa carbon crank standard gear 53/39 170
Fsa gold lightweight bottom bracket
Sram cassette pg1070. 11/28
Sram chain pg1070
Gore gear and brake cables
Planet x top end cnc brake calipers with total time bolts
Pearl white with white planet x seat tube, stem and matching bars all light weight alloy
Saddle white sella italia.
Most of the above means nothing to me, but thats what the guy selling it told me anyway!
I just need to get myself some pedals and get out there. Any thoughts you have both positive and negative will be appreciated.
Thanks

Look like a great first road bike. Congratulations.
With a standard double crankset, you may find the gearing a little high if it's your first foray into cycling for a long time. Obvious place for future upgrades would be the wheels, but 501s will serve you just fine.
I'd be interested to hear what you think of the PX brakes, as thinking of getting a set myself.0 -
Thanks.
Theres hardly a mark on the carbon whatsoever, just one chip of white missing revealing the dark CF underneath, but im sure i can soon hide that0 -
That's a great start with nice components, now enjoy!Giant TCR Composite 30

looks great - you will love it!0

That looks lovely.
My Planet X pro carbon has arrived this morning. I would also be interested to hear what you think to the brakes.0 -
Thanks guys, I'll try my best to give you my thoughts when I get out there, this weekend hopefully, just need a few bits first, spare tube, skid lid, pedals etc...
Speaking of pedals, where do I start? What would you recommend?
Cheers

I have a PX carbon pro too - it was my first road bike a few months ago.
I went for Speedplays on mine, purely as I like the double sided lark.Insert bike here:0 -
Pedals are a bit like saddles, i.e. what people like/dislike can be very different. Myself, after trying a few, my favourites are now Time RSXs. Fairly easy to clip into, but best of all easy to clip out off, also lots of float and light, the "First" version is also not too expensive, around £50.
Nice looking bike by the way.0 -
Leave it as it is - except for the pedals - and enjoy!
Depending on where you ride, the 11/28 cassette might be a bit too wide with 52/39. I am living in a flat area and 13/25 is fine for me, 12/23 might be even better.
The stem looks pretty long. If that suits you, fine. If not, changing it isn't too expensive and really worth it, if it makes the bike more comfortable.0 -
is this the smallest one? What is your height?0
-
Yeah it's the smallest and I'm around 5'8"0

In the picture your bike already has pedals . . . ? ? ?
Think Campag should get on the blower to FSA about the copyright on that crankset? From a distance . . .Edinburgh Revolution Curve
