Hi All,

Tempted by the above bike for general South Wales riding (including the usuall trail centres). Not into jumps or big drop offs etc.

Anyone own\ridden one and have any opinions?

Cheers

You're unlikely to find one of those - Giant have no stock left for 2013 bikes. I know where there's a small, if that's any good.

Rode one, found it quick, light, but not much fun to ride. I had no confidence with it when descending either.

I've not ridden one, but one thing that I noticed sitting on one was that the angle of the seat tube sits you a long way back on the bike (they're an odd looking thing viewed side on) - bloke at my local shop said that was the only thing he didn't like about how they ride, he said the front can get pretty light because of it. The X2 model's tested in one of the mags this month (MBR I think, I was reading it in Asda this afternoon), and they say the same. The writeup says that when they fitted a shorter stem, wider bars and slammed the saddle right forward it transformed it, and made it their favourite bike in the test, where they hadn't really wanted to ride it before.

I test rode one and wasn't that impressed, back end seemed flexy and it just seemed a bit neutral really. Not a bad bike by any means but getting back on my 09 Zesty after a couple of hours on the Trance it was clear the Zesty was a much nicer ride. I'd demo'd the Anthem 29er a few months earlier and that was a better ride than the Trance although could do with a bit more travel (hence why I tried the Trance, on paper it should be brilliant but somehow it just doesn't work on the trail IMO).
