Hello,

I recently upgraded my wheel set. I installed the rear wheel with no issues (that I can see). However, I am having problems with the rear cassette being noisy (chattering sound) and when changing gears on the rear cassette...in particular going from a small large sprocket to a smaller one it either isn't smooth...doesn't do it first time or skips. I have tried to turn the barrel adjuster clockwise in order to see if it makes it smoother or changes with more ease...but it seems to be as far clockwise as it can go...I can only turn the barrel adjuster anticlockwise.

I have a Felt F6 with SRAM Apex 10 speed, I upgraded the stock wheels to Campi Zonda's (I fitted the relevant spacer).

Any advice suggestions please? Thanks very much!

you did reset the rear mech?

when changing wheels it is normal to have to reset the rear mech.

How old is the chain? New cassette on an old chain that is worn may be causing it.

As far as the resetting of the mech goes as mentioned above, turn the barrel adjuster on the down tube counter clockwise a few turns to bring more cable available for the derailleur barrel adjuster to continue turning.

Personally I'd start with upper and lower limit if you've got new wheels. Your upper limit may put the rear mech closer to the spokes and you really don't want that into the wheel..once done you can then start with cable tension and indexing.

The chain and cassette are about 6 months old. From the videos I've seen on youtube it suggests I need to turn the barrel adjuster clockwise to provide more slack in the cable and to allow the chain to move from larger sprockets to smaller sprockets more fluidly. You've mentioned counter clockwise?

Also what's the definition of resetting the mech...is this placing it on smallest cog and tweaking barrel adjuster or something else...apologies if this is a dense question I'm a complete n00b to it!

Put the chain on the smallest sprocket and adjust the H limit screw until the jockey wheel sits under the small sprocket. Put the chain on the largest sprocket and adjust the L limit screw until it sits under the largest sprocket. Run through the gears and use the barrel adjuster to fine tune.
