Cracked rear dropout

Any suggestions other than a new bike? I really quite like my bike and will be very sad if it needs to be retired.
Frame is an alloy Cannondale CAAD 5 and I'm London based if that is relevant.

Cannondale supposedly offer a lifetime warranty - so depends if you're the first owner and still have the receipt?
As the frame is made from heat-treated alloy, weld-repairs cannot guarantee structural integrity as the localised heat from the weld will change the material properties.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0 -

Sadly, I'm not the first owner and don't have the receipt. I think the bike is around 13/14 years old, so even if I did it would seem a little cheeky.Monty Dog wrote:As the frame is made from heat-treated alloy, weld-repairs cannot guarantee structural integrity as the localised heat from the weld will change the material properties.
Does that mean someone somewhere will offer to weld it for me, but I should definitely not go down this route?0 -
From a quick internet search, the aluminum alloy for the dropout 'might be' 6061.
I'd telephone welders in your area to find someone who is experienced welding / brazing(?) aluminum. You might also try aircraft repair shops.
