Campagnolo... the quality is outstanding at a fraction of the cost. If you want to spend less, look at Stronglight ones on Ebay... they are nice and well made.
Remember threaded headsets stack height has to match your fork... read Sheldon Brown if you want to know moreleft the forum March 20230 -
I read the headset section of Sheldon Brown and it did not mention stack height, so do i need to measure my fork to enable me to buy the right headset ?ugo.santalucia wrote:Campagnolo... the quality is outstanding at a fraction of the cost. Measure your frame head tube, then measure your fork steerer length. subract the former from the latter and grossly speaking that is the stack height you need. If the headset is too tall, the top locknut won't engage, id it is too short, it will be fine, but the fork threads will be exposed and look crap. Anyway, the second case is better than the first, if in doubt.
Campagnolo Record should be 37-38 mm, or at least the latest one is, if you go for vintage components a bit more, I think... Shimano headsets are a bit shorterleft the forum March 20230 -
Agree on avoiding Chris King. Totally over-priced, over-hyped, over-engineered. A £8 Tange headset has lasted me 20 years including 3 x the full Flanders route without pitting or feeling too rough. Check Ribble as well for some good options. When a cyclist has a disagreement with a car; it's not who's right, it's who's left.0

Tange if you are on a budget. The passage for example has a low 30.3mm stack height according to the box.
Campagnolo record however is in a class of it's own.
A good used Shimano 105 or 600 headset will last an age too. I am using a few of these and I will never part with them they that good.
The stronglight A9 is a pretty good buy as is the Miche effort. Lot's of choice. Check you stack height first though as already mentioned. I have all these headsets in the shop so if you need stack heights for any of them drop me a pm and I will let you know.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0 -

Wow, they still have Dura Ace 7400 in stock. Impressive. Have one of these on a 1986 Team Miyata. The thing will last longer that I will! When a cyclist has a disagreement with a car; it's not who's right, it's who's left.0
