Giant Defy Frameset compatibility
Hi all,
Does anyone know if I could replace my Medium/Large Giant Defy 2 (2012) frame with an earlier Medium frame? I'm assuming all the Tiagra components could be easily switched across, but am unsure about the forks - or indeed whether there would be any major disadvantages to doing so (I think the earlier frames were a slightly different design, but were they any worse than the 2012 model?).
Thanks in advance.

Apart from the frame being a different size (assuming you bought the correct size originally) it would depend on how old the frame your swapping it for is.
The frames usually get better over the years as they go through lots of R&D. What's the reason for the backwards change?0 -

Main reason for the change is that I'm a numpty who didn't read the sizing guide properly before going out and buying secondhand. Felt OK on a short test, but once I went out on a proper ride I realised that I was over stretching on the reach. Have shortened and flipped the stem and moved the seat as far forward as I can get away with, but it's still not 100% (I'm 5'8"). So thought that swapping the frame to a Medium might be easier than having to sell the bike, hope to get my money back, and then find another.0
