Alright guys, My shifters feel really gritty and aren't shifting as smooth as I know they can.

Do any of you 'service' your shifters and if so, How often?

By service I mean strip them down and clean and then re-grease.

I'm guessing it's not a hard thing to do if I follow a Shimano tech doc?

Shimano XT M770 9 Speed if I'm correct. It's only the R/H shifter which is suffering really.

I gave them both a bit of a clean and removed the windows, They have improved but I didn't fancy taking them completely apart and giving them a thorough clean and re grease...

Be very careful. Cover off and a bit of lube is ok, but if you take any bits out, or they spring apart you will not get them back together unless you live in a wheelchair and talk through a computer.

That's what happened with my old Deore shifters, 3 hours and a lot of swearing later I ordered a new one haha.

I gave them a good blast with GT85 and then re-greased. They feel loads better so I guess I'll them them as they are.
