Hi guys,
My first post after studying the forum and went to Decathlon to try out both medium and small of the Rockrider 8.1 but the clearance is none. So went to evans and seen their Pinnacle range esepcially the ramin 2 and jarrah 4 both similar spec and price as each other, drawn also by the fit. But, still need to have opinions on these two latter machines.
Thanks

    I am 5'7 with inside leg 29-30"
I felt the small 8.1 reach felt cramped but the medium felt right albeit noclearance, help!
    Budget is 800.

The rockrider is still the better specced, but it is close, the others aren't too bad, decent forks. Go with what fits best and gives you most confidence.

Thanks guys...top advice as always on these boards. Read that other post but what SMALL size bikes that have a longer reach? I'm thinking of researching for a small size with a longer reach rather than being cramped. Any samples to research?

It varies enormously, both reach and standover height, even with modles listed as the same size.

Best thing would be to visit a few more shops and see what suits. I'd look at the offerings in Halfords ie the Voodoos, Carrera and Boardman.

Thanks SS, I will take a look at my local Halfords tomorrow. At this price point I was also keen to find reviews on the Cube Acid 2013 as there's a Small available around my price range. Has anyone got one of these?

What about a vitus model shown above I like the spec of this?

I wouldn't compromise on the rest of the bike for some standover clearance.....
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

I would be more confortable with some stand clearance, so I have placed an order for the Cube Acid 2013 in a small, and looking forward to riding it. Thanks for your feedback all, love this place so much informative and generous information on tap!

Interesting choice, I think the small Cube has a shorter effective top tube than the small Rockrider so not sure how it will feel less cramped? Hope it works out for you though.

I tried the RR 8.1 in small and I had no clearance whatsover, then more recently I tried the Cube in the small at Surosa Cycles (excellent service) and they helped me size it all up and they also agreed that the small was better suited. The top tube was measured against other brands in the shop, but whilst I tested the bike it felt right, arm and leg length as well as seat post to stem height was right for me.
