Wow my first 50 miles

I was determined to get my 50 in this weekend, after reading so many posts of members getting in this milestone.

Wolverhampton to Bromsgrove and back, it was a lot harder than I though it would be. The last 15 miles were punishing, having to stop for constant water drinks and give my backside relief!

Whilst my time wasn't great 12.5mph average, I just concentrated on the getting each mile in. Is 2600ft elevation gain any good in the overall scheme of things?

The next challenge will be 62 miles/ 100km.

Well done today, are you on Strava? I'd class anything with 800ft-1000ft of climbing every 10 miles as hilly.

Wow... can't believe you stuck to the A449  .... you've got a lot of nice lanes on your doorstep.

If you every fancy a 'Tour Round' the lanes drop me a PM :D .....

Thanks guys, your comments make it all worth while.

Lots of beautiful lanes where I am but when you're focused on getting 50 in, didn't want the hassle of making a wrong turn or two.

Well done! Many here will think 50 miles is a training run, but it's a long way! I did 37 miles at most before I did 62 miles so managed the 50mile and 100km marker in the same ride :)

    well done! great effort.

I wouldnt feel too bad about the last 15 miles feeling hard, judging by your route i'm guessing the second half of you ride was all into the wind!

Great effort, wouldn't worry about the speed, its more about time in the saddle than setting PR's. Plus you'll be amazed at how easy your next shorter ride feels :D
