Fit MTB 8 speed cassette to Road Bike - London to Brighton?
Hi a mate has Carrera Virtuoso Limited Edition with 8 speed rear cassette ( 11-13-15-17-19-21-23-25 )
He did L2B last year and is thinking of an easier gearing to help tackle Ditchling Beacon this year.
Is it feasible to just put on a Shimano CS-HG-51 11-28 cassette ( 11-13-15-17-19-21-24-28 )
like this just for this ride?
Or is that strictly for MTB/commuter bikes, and may cause problems?

Yes should be OK, but you'll need to lengthen the chain by a link or two or be very careful when riding in the big chainring with larger sprockets, otherwise you'll catch the rear mech and wrap the whole lot around the rear cassette resulting in a long walk and a big repair bill. TBH, shoes more suited to walking is a better way of getting up Ditchling on London-Brighton.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
