Is the Cannondale sl5 and sl4 a good choice?

Im about to buy a hardtail around the £500-600 mark and after having a play on the sl5 came to the conclusion that it felt great.
Before splashing the cash i need someone to hold my hand and tell me im doing the right thing! I have read the 300-500 buying advice thread and as nice as the Voodoo is i need to buy this bike on finance so that throws Halfords out of the window.
I know there are better specced bikes out there but im hoping the frame will be good enough to warrant future upgrades. Or will this choice just cause me headaches regarding reliability.

It's a rubbish spec, you'd be better of applying for a 0% credit card and then buying something better for less.
If you want a cannondale then Paul's cycles have the 2011 sl3 for £4990 -
