Bottom bracket advise for ribble mtb frame

Hi all,
I've been working on my first bike build and finding out the hard way parts just aren't that interchangeable!
I bought a nice ribble mtb frame off eBay and have stripped down an old trek for some parts. Now I've put the bottom bracket in off the trek and its sticking out a bit as you can see from the photo.
Question is: apart from not looking the best will I get away with it once the rest of the gear is on?
Or do I need a new BB to fit better?
Had a quick look on wiggle but honestly haven a clue what type I need.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I can't find the length required for the BB on the ribble site
Cheers

Measure the BB shell, and look at the size of the BB (it should be written on it) But it's either too big or not in properly.I don't do smileys.

I've measured the BB Of the Ribble and I thinks it's 68mm
The bb taken out is an RPM BB7420 and has 73 stamped on it with BC 1.37x24T
I've measured it best I can with a tape measure and it looks about 120mm
I've also found a new BB for £10 on chain reaction cycles
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=34652
Question is should I stick to the 120mm length or do I need to shorten it as I'll be buying the 68mm version?
Sorry if daft questions but not quite sure what determines the maximum spindle length needed?
Thanks

The 68 will be right, but the axle length depends on the crankset - if you are using the same one you need the same axle length.I don't do smileys.
