Integrated Headset Bearing - the same size?

This is surely a simple question. I have a new FSA Orbit CE and it looks as if both bearings are the same size. I have also done some research and although I have found no straight answer it seems that both the bottom and top bearing are indeed the same. But before doing something silly, can anyone confirm?

In short?

Are they both the top and bottom bearing in an integrated headset the same?

Thanks
Mart

Depends on the bearing standard in use - but commonest is yes.

  • More often than not yes but the size of each will be printed on the side.

Thank you, perhaps I am just oversensitive. My wife had a look and said that they were the same.

The headset in questions is as below:

From the page you posted, click on the link - inside tech - manual - orbit ce. The diagram has the specs and they're the same.

Yes, I saw the specs and I thought that was the case. But doing this for the first time, and reading perhaps too much, I got confused.

    Thank you for help :)

for ease/cheapness of manufacture, they'd be the same

if they were different it would be obviously so (like the current tapered ones - 1 1/8 up top, 1 1/4 bottom) and for a reason
