Old sticky tape on bars

Hi

I picked up some 2nd hand bars and they still have quite a bit of the old sticky tape on them, how important is it to get it ll off? If it is, does anyone have any tips to get it off?

    It's not really - unless it's really lumpy it will be hidden by new tape.

    If you want to get it off warm it up and use something like goo-gone and then WD40.
    I'm left handed, if that matters.
