Whats going on with this Orange 5 fork?

On the search for an Orange 5, and found this eBay ad whilst searching.

If you look at the picture of the forks, at the bottom of the stanchions the coating has been worn/rubbed away.
It doesnt look right at all. Is that a potential problem?

  • I'd ask the seller if they've ever been serviced... usually happens with dry seals/stanchions but I've seen a few fox forks like that.

    You could get them Kashima dipped by Mojo though.

    The stations have worn on the bushes. They must have had some proper grief to have gone that bad.

    I had floats on my old stumpy that started to go and they felt as rough as hell. They weren't worth fixing so just replaced them. It would have cost a fortune to have them fixed as it ment new fork uppers. That was a few years ago now so can't comment on the new fancy coatings.

    In my opinion, if the forks are that battered, I'd be worried about the rest of the bike.

    Rest of bike looks ok tbh, although I'm rather confused by the larger rotor on the rear.
