Hi all,

I know you must get this all the time but was wondering if anyone could give me a bit of a sense check to stop me going round in circles over what to buy...

After being back on the bike for a while Im realising that my trusty 10 year old fs isn't quite as spritely as it once was so looking to get a new bike.

Mainly riding single track on a day to day but with the occasional trail centre and trip to Wales/lakes so I need a bit of a do it all ride.

Have been looking at the Canyon Nerve AL+ 9.0 and the Trek Fuel EX8 and after chats with two LBS, Im more confused if anything-to add to the complication I can get the Trek on a points deal which would mean I effectively get 10% of the cost of the bike to spend on parts/accessories etc.

If anyone has any kind of thoughts on the above, I would be massively grateful...

Would the 120mm travel Nerve AL (rather than the plus) not be more comparable to the EX in terms of intended purpose?

Links to the bikes would help...

  • Good point, sorry about that...

    The Nerve is here - https://www.canyon.com/_en/mountainbike ... tml?b=3042

    The Trek is here - http://www.trekbikes.com/uk/en/bikes/mo ... _ex_8_uk/#

Kowalski, you're probably right - the Fuel came up because it was the newest shiniest range in the bike shop so they were keen to show it off! I guess the Remedy would be a bit more comparable to the Nerve?
  • hi,ive been looking to order the nerve myself and typically for me now ive got the funds its sold out !!
i called canyon and the german fella was quite blunt in telling me that if it says sold out then it is sold out.he told me the new models arent due for release until october so ill probably wait as the comparable Trek,Scott etc is a few grand more.

I've been looking at the nerves too. The 6 in medium was showing as out of stock, but due back in stock week 27, but then the status changed to sold out (as are several other models). I assumed their 2014 models must be due soon, but it seems crazy that they're not making any more if their 2014 bikes aren't due out until October (with everyone elses 2014 ranges due any time now they'll lose a lot of sales to people who want a bike for this summer).
