Bike Mechanic

Hi does anyone have any reccomendations for a good bike mechanic all i want is my gears setting up so they run smooth and change seamlessly seams a simple enough task but a national bike chain attached to the national cycling centre have not managed to do it in 3 attempts i could take t back to make it a 4th but i am losing my patience

    Watch a couple of vids on youtube and try it yourself. The gears may be set up ok but the chain/cassette could be worn etc?

    Which part of Manchester?
    Ken Foster in Chorlton is a good shop, in town Harry Hall maybe, if you can bear the staff attitude and can afford their prices (Graham Hall is actually quite nice, but hardly ever there)

    i live in north manchester and have a van so transport is not a problem

    I've heard good things about the bicycle doctor, dickenson road, rusholme but I've never used them
