Spontaneous logout

safari 4.04 on Mac OS 10.6.3 (Snow leopard)
I log in, reply to some post, but after I hit submit I'm taken to the Login popup window. I type in my username and password and I'm taken back to the post but my carefully worded reply has been wiped clean.
On other forums, if this happens, your reply is stored and you are taken back and allowed to submit.
