Sorry guys and gals... I know I am being incredibly lazy but I would really appreciate some help and advice. I'm looking to buy a new carbon road bike for circa £1500. I have been doing loads of research and have also tried out a couple and I think my mind is made up in the Giant Defy Composite 2. However, I have also been looking at the Specialized Roubaix Sport Compact. But before I go spending my hard earned cash I just wanted to get your thoughts and opinions on whether there a better options out there? I am mainly looking for a bike that will be comfortable to ride over longer distances. Any thoughts? Any good deals around you are aware of in this price range and category? Tanks in advance for any help and advice.

Another good bike available locally to me is the Cube Agree GTC Pro for approx. £1400. Depends what the best options are locally if you want to look/test something.Current bike: 2014 Kinesis Racelight T2 - built by my good self!0

Great reviews on this and the spec is very very good. Definitely a worthy contender. Not heard of the Canyon before... I take it a German brand who mainly sell online?0 -
+1 for Canyon Ultimate AL0

trek domane 2.3 with its clever decoupled seat tube thingy - something to talk about at dinner parties
Think its £1300 and it's supposed to be very comfortable without losing stiffness. Not sure I can see far enough past Treks's asscociation with LA to buy one but it does look pretty impressive.Bianchi Infinito CV

That they are. And they also get top marks from owners and reviewers.
As others have mentioned Cube (another German brand) have some some excellent bikes around your price range that always come up tops. I've got one and love it. Also check out Rose and Focus (two more German brands...damn, those guys are good) that get a lot of praise.

Thanks for all the advice guys... I have today placed my order for a new Giant Defy Composite 2. Had a great deal from a local shop with new pedals, shows, computer etc all thrown in for the cost of the bike. I was very tempted by the Cube GTC Pro but no local dealers in Cambride so couldn't test ride. Also, I found out that the Canyon's are actually made by Giant. Anyway, thanks for all the advice!0

I don't think LA's association with Trek should have any bearing on any decision. I think you may find that most of the top brands have an association with a rider who has subsequently been banned for drugs.
Anyway I have a Domane 4,5 and I can confirm that the decoupled seat tube thingt does indeed work very well. I have a Specialize Roubaix as a winter/wet bike which has the zertz inserts but the Domane blows it away in terms of comfort on our crappy old roads.0
