Can anyone justify the cost of these?

I like the comment BTW, v-good :)

    Jesus Christ, £530???

I was expecting to see some kind of divine, organic one piece carbon thing.

That's just a stem and bars, and not particularly good looking either.

If they feel happy overcharging for stuff like that you have to wonder about their wheels.......some of the most expensive out there.

And yes the ends do look like willies, (not mine though, I'm more 31.8 than 26.........)

I don't think 99% of people here can justify spending more than £700 on a bike, doesn't mean that's all we should spend though. If I had a decent budget and was putting together my dream bike they'd certainly be on my short-list. I have no clue what margin they make on them but it's not the same as someone just importing generic carbon bars from Taiwan, re-branding them and putting a 300% mark-up on them. They invest a lot of money designing and testing their products and they're made is small runs not churned out by the thousand. Is the slightly better end product worth all that extra hassle and cost? Not to me but it obviously is for some people

They look cack. The stem is chunky in a bad way and inelegant, the bar ends look rather amusing.

I have no problem with spending lots of money on a bike part that is genuinely worth a lot of money, but this little set up clearly is NOT worth that amount of money, and anyone parting with that amount of cash for a pretty standard stem and bar needs their head looking at.

I'm not defending the price which really is pretty eye watering but you are looking at what is probably the brand that pushes the envelope in the right way so they can charge £££ with justification (look at the rims, £750 EACH but the only rims on the market that can lay reasonable claim to being better than Zipp).

Personally I'll continue to do what I do now and buy something else... Anyone who wants to send me some of their rims to 'test for a few '000 miles' is welcome to though... ;-)

These guys sell bunches of stuff like that. I guess it's all about how much disposable income you have.

Carbon stems in general seem to be tremendously poor value for money... I was looking at replacing the 3T Pro (Alloy) stem with a 3T Ltd (carbon) version - the cost difference is >£150, the weight saving ~20g with no discernable difference in performance...
  • It's not just about the weight though

Still cheaper than AX Lightness ;)

My bar/stem weigh the same and were much cheaper. Be even lighter if I cared about carbon bars.

Deda RHM bars and zero 1 stem. For 500 quid less.

Guilty as charged. Damn just realised I've fessed up to an old thread !

As an alternative the Deda Superleggera/Superleggero combo is actually lighter and works just as well. Bars and stem together at Ribble are about £250. Still expensive, but considerably cheaper than the Enve.

Deda Superleggero Stem and Superleggera bars - 279g. I paid about £200 for that so that's over £300 extra to carry 50g more weight around. ENVE certainly have a sense of humour. I thought the idea was you pay absurd amounts of money to save weight - not to add it!
