After a bit of advice chaps.

I have just bought a Rotor 3DF chainset with a Rotor Italian bottom bracket.

When fitted and correctly torqued there is significant drag when rotating the cranks. Any ideas?

  • How are you rotating the cranks?

  • Backwards and forwards. Same "drag" is evident.

Have you over preloaded the bearings?, I have the Rotor 3D cranks and I misread the fitting instructions and was over pre-loading the bearings which was causing the cranks to be stiff when turning.

  • The preload is fully "undone" before tightening the drive side. When the drive side is tightened it's not possible to move the pre-load by hand at all.

does your frame need 'facing' to ensure the crank axle runs straight in the bearings?
  • I've got exactly the same issue with mine.

Had bottom bracket off, re-greased... A bit better, still has a drag to it. I'm hoping it may ease in with time.
