...... Ride with GPS vs Strava

Currently I use Ride With GPS, have been for a number of yeas on and off. I've seen a lot of people here use Strava and I wondered which was the better tool for routing and courses?

Anybody got any thoughts?

Bike route toaster lets you plot a route and export it as a gpx or tpx file.
Sure there are others but i find this one easy to use.

I use RideWith GPS for creating routes. I don't think you can create routes from scratch with Strava. I have never seen an option to.

You can't plan routes in Strava, but it has more post-game analysis than ridewithgps

I use both - ridewithgps to plan routes, export them to my phone for navigation, then export the ride data from there to Strava.

You can sign up to Strava for free - use them both for a little while, uploading ride data to both ridewithgps and Strava - then you can compare their analysis.

Uploading to Strava is easier than ridewithgps if you're recording on a smartphone. You can just e-mail the GPX file from your app to upload@strava.com. So long as your phone sends emails from the same address as the one you use for your Strava account, the file will finds its way in to your records. :)

With ridewithgps, I have to email the GPX to myself, then save it on my computer and upload it on the ridewithgps site.

I use a Garmin 705, so it seems that I may as well stick with RWGPS. I can plan and up/down load.

    Thanks

    ridewithgps with their free account.
I have tried lots of different sites and rwgps has always proved to be the best for planning and then analysising your progress after. Lots of instructions too.

    I can't fault it.

Another factor to consider is how easy it is to share a route with other people who may or may not have an account with that service.
We have a rota for our sunday club rides and the leaders usually always post the route in advance.
I use RidewithGPS, as I know I can share the route and it will be accessible to anyone.
Some people use other systems which force you to have an account to view the data, or in some cases, only if you wanted to download the gpx file.

So in terms of being considerate to others, it's useful to choose a more openly accessible platform.
