hi, not been here for a while!

due to rationalisation in the bike shed I'm after suggestions for a HT frame to build up for everything family rides along the local towpaths/bridleways, all day xc (not racing) up on the moors + the welsh hills and trail centre use (no jumps, moderate drops).

Have various components pitched around this level of riding: the fork to be used is a talas so some flexibility in travel but around 120mm suited me best when it was on a FS, I never liked it in short travel mode.

not after any specific material but would prefer a lighter frame at around £400: my requirements seem to fall between the on one carbon offerings of whippet (too racy) and 456 (to burly)

base steel seems to be on one inbred at £200 but 2.5kg which seems better value than a ragly piglet at £320 same weight; is the cotic soul that much better at £500? Can you still get rock lobsters frame only? cant seem to find them or am I missing something
