Following on from the retirement thread, who do you think is past their best but would like to see go out with a win?

I'll go for Thor Hushovd winning a stage of the Tour.

Who's this Sandy Cesar fella? Is he a poor man's version of Sandy Casar?

What does it say about me that I can only think of people I want to retire and don't want to get a win?

I am a bad, bad, person!

In this vein the only names I can think of are:

Andreas Klöden, winning something where he has to endure a podium presentation with someone from the German Federation.

Denis Menchov, preferably winning by falling off over the line.

    :D

I'm a sucker for Juan Antonio Flecha, maybe he could get another TdF stage win before her retires, ten his after his first one.

But only if he does the same victory salute!

He did it when he won Het Nieuwsblad. The one good thing about him hardly ever winning is that his victory salute always looks cool.

Tricky this - anyone who is old enough to retire rode in the dark era, and is therefore likley to be tainted.

Still, Hushovd is a good shout. I'll go with Evans.

And at least it has some relevance, unlike most of them.

I actually don't mind Dirty Denis. He doesn't have much natural flare and has come across as a gutsy grafter. I like grafters.

His 2005 Vuelta win wasn't pretty but it was gutsy.

If he wins a race, I bet the rider in second place will celebrate as nobody has noticed Zubeldia winning.

Easy. Cadel Evans. Love to see him take the World's and retire in the rainbow jersey....

    Mark Cavendish.

Now that seems a daft answer, and it is. But I really hope he gets the Olympic gold that he clearly craves before he retires (in whatever event - water polo if necessary)

I think he got second in Liege one year?

That's why Roubaix would be Jenstastic!
