Arthur Caygill

I'm a sentimental old sod. My father passed away recently - 1st May in fact - a top man and my best mate. His name was Arthur. A few days after he died I saw this for sale on ebay, and just could not resist owning a bike with his name on it. Typically (for my dad) its a fantastic machine. 1995 hand-made steel frame - Arthur Caygill is a frame builder up in Yorkshire - Campagnolo Athena groupset (apart from the seat post which is Veloce), Mavic rims on Campag hubs, Cinelli Bar and quill stem. I stuck the Brookes B17 Narrow saddle on it, and the Fizik Microtex Bar Tape, and the colour-coded Vredstein Fortezza tyres. It rides like a dream - have put about 250 miles on it during May - and I will probably own it for the rest of my life. The guy who sold it to me is an absolute gentleman too and we've been in touch since. It just felt right and I'm happy to be the proud owner of such a beautiful machine.

Var var nice. It's must be great having such a strong emotional attachment to your bike, if only I could too - it'd be a lot cleaner.0 -
Scores massive points just for the name of the frame It's good that it reminds you of your dad, hope you have many happy miles on it.0

Well impressed with their workmanship - I'm going to send them an email, let them know how much I enjoy the bike, and that it lives 'darn sarth' now!
And thanks all for your kind words - much appreciated.Raymondo
