How often should you replace cleats (non-SPD)

Just wondered.

Either I'm not doing enough mileage or I've just been lucky - or I'm due a failure at some point very soon - but I've not changed my cleats in 5 years.

Should I do so?

As long as they engage, stay in and un-clip as they should then keep going.

A visual check to make sure there are no cracks/splits if you are particularly concerned.

Of course you could just replace them....£30 after 5 years is hardly frivalous spending :-)

I use Look Keo and If you don't walk in them or drag your feet they'll last years.

My SPD-SL set are well used and looking very tattered but still clip in and out perfectly. Cleats last longer than you think. Only replace when they become troublesome.

they mainly wear when you walk in them, if you just ride they would last a long long time
