My upgrade-a-geddon on the Madone has released a complete front crankset (crankset, front derailleur, BB) all 105 which I'd like to use on one of the other 2 bikes.

I can't use it on the Felt as that is a SRAM set but the Tricross is running a Tiagra triple kit so it might be possible.

Presently the Tricross has a 68 x 118mm square taper BB like this: Old BB

Could I drop in something like: Tiagra BB or this: 105 BB

My worry is the length of the axle on the hollowtech ii crankset... would it be long enough to clear the frame that the 118mm BB can?

what make is in has little to do with anything.

if both bikes have a standard threaded BB it will fit either,

BBs that come with axels (old style) have an axel length of the correct length for the cranks they are designed to work with to give a suitable chain line.

HT 2 have a standard length axel to give the same suitable chain line.

yes you could use either it makes no difference.

dont forget the BB sheel should be faced if going to external bearings.

has it been? get it checked and done if it has not beeen.

on that - it did occur I'd need to do some cleaning up

You're still going to end up with a crankset left over. Just be done with it and buy a CR1 frame to fit it onto.
