    That better?
    Yes.

Vertical drop out. How are you going to handle that?
  • It is something I have read up on.

I have bought the on one doofer, a conversion kit with 2 different sized chain rings at the rear and I will be purchasing a 34 tooth chainring to go with the 32 tooth I currently have. Hopefully I will be able to get the tension right with these options.

Very apt that you will be riding a bike that says "semi"

Can tell already this is going to look good. What size front and rear rings are you going for chief?
  • Nothing dinner plate-esque. Probably 160s but I have got a lightweight 185 that ill decide whether to put on when I see how it brakes with 160s

Rings not discs! I've tried 32x18 today and it's useless, way too easy, I'm looking for a 16 tooth cog now.
  • I've bought an A2Z conversion kit with a 16 & 17 tooth in, you can have the 16 if you want.
  • Wanted a stem with less of a stack height so got a FUNN Stem £12, USE Atom Bars £30, Clarks Lock On Grips £8, Avid Juicy Threes FREE, Truvativ Stylo Cranks £12, Xpedo Pedals FREE, Superstar Seatclamp £5, Specialized Saddle & Seatpost FREE.

  • Pretty much done, TD24 Wheels, SB8s, Exotic seatpost, weighs 22.5lbs and i've got nearly a full pound to shed off that with lighter inner tubes and pedals on the way.

Looking good, looks like you can knock a couple of links out the chain and I'd be tempted to drill out the cable stops to take the brake hose (which is what we did on my daughters Full Creme frame).

A bit heavy (about the same as my hardtail 1x9) but as you say, some scope to shed 1/2lb at least on the tyres and tubes.

  • Already took out a couple of links from the chain since that picture, runs way more smoothly now. I'll be trying to shave lbs off as time goes by, aiming to break 20lbs in the future.

20lb is certainly possible with an SS on that frame and forks, but will require some careful work.

My 1x9 Kraken (so similar weight frame to yours) is now around 10.3Kg (will update my YMB thread when I shave the next 100g off).

Foam grips will give you 100g plus versus lockons.....I've just put some exotic carbons on mine, not ridden yet to compare to the Avenir ones (same as KCNC and Titec Porkrinds) on my commuter.

  • Updated now with foam grips, hollowtech BB, SLX cranks, lighter pedals, Shimano Brkaes TD24 Wheels with SB8s and lightweight inner tubes.

    21.5lb now:

  • Saddle is the next change, but this ones quite comfy compared to my Charge Knife.

Upgrades will be slow now, i'll keep doing it slowly and see where it takes me I reckon.
  • Put this on the big industrial scales at work, 19.6lbs!

Over a pound lighter than I thought it was!
  • Shame it might have to be sold off to fund my broken CAM belt.

    :(
