Hi,
I have a RS Recon Solo Air on my Scott Spark 40 MY2010. By specification fork should have 120mm travel.
But my fork had only 100mm travel with exposed stanchion length of 115mm. Therefore I removed 2 spacers and fork get full travel - 120mm. But exposed stanchion length also grown up to 135mm.
Should the exposed stanchion length be so high? I don’t think so because bike geometry is changed completely.
By my opinion the length of exposed stanchion is now too high. On my other bike I have Tora Coil SL with 100mm travel and length of exposed stanchion 105mm.
Any suggestions?

Most forks run about 10-15mm more exposed stanchion than travel, normal.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

When you're on the bike the fork should be sagged if set up properly anyway, returning your bikes geometry.

(If your frame is designed to run 120mm travel at 20-30% sag)
