Strava screwed up my ride.

Today i had a ride and went about 15 miles to my destination, everything was fine at that point,i had a five minute break to take in a drink and admire the scenery and paused the app,on resuming my ride i unpaused the app and went on my way back the way i came.On arriving home i noticed that the app had only logged the second half of the ride and that was in a straight line.I mean straight as an arrow, all fifteen or so miles.Obviously that is wrong.I then tried to see if i could sort it out via the website but somehow made it worse so i deleted the whole ride.

But what made it go wrong in the first place and will it happen again.I was really enjoying the ride and looked forward to seeing what i had achieved and what i had improved on but it has all gone.I have written a report to Strava but has anyone else had this problem. My fear is if it happens again.

Im actually with you, if you want to keep a record of your rides then why should that be an issue ?
I did a ride last week and Strava gave me a KOM, obviously this was not correct and I feel for the true KOM who needlessly lost his crown, it can be frustrating although in general I find it great.

try not pausing as it should auto pause for any stops, that way it wont get confused with stopping and starting.

what you mean it didn't get flagged? My Bryton messed up a ride, it was logged correctly on the Bryton site but on the strava it was massively bugged. It got flagged after about 30 seconds, :D hardly surprising as I had 30+ koms. Deleted and redid the route (all 75 miles) with my Garmin..no koms that time :|

I pause it every time I stop for more than a minute or two as I have had Strava comeback with stupidly low averages from stopping for 15 minutes. I just check to make sure I have things recording properly before I set off.

Not that I know of, I've emailed strava to let them know the times were wrong as its not right for me to be leading.

Are you talking about renting a bike while you're here or a company to make you a loan to buy one?

If you want to guarantee tracking your rides, buy a Garmin edge (any model), it rarely messes up tracking and has superior battery life, also allows to view any stats during a ride which is when you should be looking at performance and adjusting.

BTW, if your that worried about mile count on Strava, you just go to "upload ride" and select "manual entry", enter distance and time it took to complete; Bingo ;)

Buy a cycling computer (Garmins are pretty good) that way if it screws up again at least it's saved on the device and you can re-upload the ride.

Sometimes, I think its the GPS that goes wonky.

Pretty much why I upgraded. The final straw was when it some how added days to my ride, so my 60 mile route ended up having an average speed of about 0.6mph. I promptly bought an edge 500 after that lol

I do and used it last week but on the return trip they wanted to charge me £340 to bring it back, I spent nearly half an hour trying to sort it which kind of put me off. They are also pretty huge as well.

Was trying to upload a list of bicycle rental places in Cleveland but couldn't get it to go. Try "bicycle rental Cleveland Ohio" on Internet Explorer or google. I'm not familiar with any of them. Sorry.
