Anyone Else using Autoglym Engine and Machine cleaner?

I had been using a small bottle of 'bike' degreaser for cleaning my chain which I bought from chain reactions, but was disappointed with how ineffective it's was considering it was £6.99 for 250ml- so after a root around the garage I found a 1l bottle of Autoglym Engine and Machine cleaner and thought I would give this a try- couldnt believe how good this stuff is for cleaning the chain and sprockets! - quick spray, agitate with a paint brush and rinse- spotless! The best this is that it only costs £9 per litre which is 1/3 price of most of the 'specialist' bike degreasers.

Just wondering if anyone else is using this on their bikes?

I've used sugar soap and found that really good too.

Specialist 'Bike' degreasers are overpriced and not worth it IMO, does a bike have a special grease??! Just don't go nuts and its fine!

I have some 25l drums of Autoglym Motorcyle Cleaner (I have from my motorcycling days) which is a truly outstanding all purpose cleaner/degreaser. It's expensive if you buy it in litre bottles from car shops, but not if you buy it in bulk. It smells pleasant, cleans brilliantly, doesn't mess up your skin and is gentle on all kinds of metal/paint finishes. It's like a fully functional Muc-Off. As a random aside, it brings back white plastic patio furniture to new.

Jizer - £17 for 5 litres. Better than any 'cycle product and a tenth of the price. Doesn't affect paintwork or any of that jazz. Gunk is pretty good as well and smells nicer.

A'glym is good but well overpriced.

Or if you want to save even more money, use diesel! The only thing to watch is that you don't left it near grease as it will wash it out.

I use this too, my mate is a car valeter and buys in bulk so I get it for next to nothing. He also supplies me with Comma Hyperclean which is the best chain degreaser I've ever used, pennies compared to bike specific products.

yup petrol/diesel/paraffin will all brush on and rinse off with water to leave a sparkling drivetrain / bike.
all will work well in chain cleaning devices too.

    petrol is the cheapest option

i use paraffin, paint brush and a nail brush then rinse with a hose.
think i'll switch to petrol once the paraffin is used up
