Tiagra front mech - braze on? Can it be fixed?
I have a Giant SCR2 with triple 9 speed Tiagra. The front mech broke this morning, so I've been searching for a replacement. The few places that seem to have them in stock all describe them as "braze on". Here's a photo of my mech's fitting - would this be a braze-on? If so, would http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=8284 be the right item as a replacement?
Also - the bit that has broken seems to be the wotsit that gives the spring its tension. The following pics show the spring and a bit that has come off (I'm not sure if there would be other bits that have come off that I've not found). I've tried fitting that black wotsit over the spring, but haven't managed to work out exactly how it needs to be done to tension the spring. Any tips? Or am I flogging a dead horse in trying to fix the mech? After all, the replacement is pretty cheap, if it is the right item...
Thanks in advance for any help here!

You can get a new one here for £8.99 (band on or braze on) probably easier than messing about.

Thanks. From the photo above, can you say if I need a braze on or band on?http://app.strava.com/athletes/287459

the fitting in your photo is a braze on, it's a generic term for a mech that fits onto a bracket integral to the frame.0
