Evening all.
I've been riding my HT for about 10 months now and think I need a different direction with my tyres
I currently run a 2.4 RR on the front and a 2.1 RR on the back.both in Evo compound.
I have zero confidence in them when the trail is even slightly damp.
When its really wet I can't get any rear traction at all
Can you recommend a different tyre? I'm repaired to sacrifice a little zip and weight for something more confidence inspiring.
Will some hans dampf be suitable in all conditions?

Down to price then?
The 2.4 RR is about as big as I would like on the front and 2.1 on the back

On my 26" bikes my fav combination is Nobby Nic front and RR rear apart from midwinter.
On my 29er I'm RR front and rear most of the year.
Are you running them at a too high a pressure? I'm tubless and run in the low thirties.0 -
My RRs are run at 35 too. Hell of a difference from the maximum recommended.2007 Felt Q720 (the ratbike)

I run my Ralph's tubeless at 27psi. I have some has too, but rarely fit them as the Ralph's a good well into the wet conditions... Definitely recommend you try some different pressures.A Flock of Birds

HDs are good, if a little draggy, and better suited to intermediate to dry conditions. The best all round tyres ive ridden in a while are the XR4s. they seem to be better at the extremes that HDs.A Flock of Birds

Another tyre n the hat then.
Such a shame they are expensive, would be great to get a selection to try.
Do indeed to worry about clearance on my RS Reba SL fork?

The HDs and XR4s are almost exactly the same size. I suspect that the Reba will be fine, although the rear could be tight depending on the frame.
The other good thing about the XR4 is they are often found cheaper online. Mine were £20 each in the TLR team issue format (which is the one you want really).A Flock of Birds

I'd go hans dampf front nobby nic rear from the sounds of your needs. I run Hans Dampfs front and back but if space is tight a Nic should be more than adequate. Was going to run the same combo myself but got on so well with the hans front and rear I just left it on there!0
