Helmet confusion, help please!

Hi guys,
simple (you would think) question:
I'm not a fan of the regular style cycle helmets, but need to get one for common sense sake.
I like the Fox hardshell/Nutcase style ones, or ideally the military style helmets.
I'm having trouble finding the size of the helmets, and as I have a large head (64cm) I don't want to make the mistake of ordering the wrong thing online.
I'm in the UK, so, if any of you know of a 'similar' helmet, in my sort of size, that I can order in the UK (and ideally the website that does them) I would be most grateful!

There is no other way than visiting a shop an trying them on I am afraid. The sizes are just rough guides - and our heads vary a lot!0

And if you're going to be cycling any distance (like more than a few hundred metres) consider the XC/roadie style anyway. Stops your brain melting. You can't see it when it's on anyway.I don't do smileys.

Unfortunately, we have very few good bike shops around here, there's and evans and a halfords, and a few small non chain stores, but none of them have anything but the most basic helmets.0 -

Cheers, but I rather detest these types, they aren't for me, plus, these skate/hardtop style helmets seem to offer significantly more protection.0 -
Halfords and Evans have a decent range when I went in. The skate/hardtop types do not offer more protection.0

Halfords have the Boardman ones which certainly aren't basic.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

It has fantastic reviews everywhere, unfortunately I'm having serious trouble finding it at an acceptable price (£50 is the limit I've set myself).0

What price do you put on your head?0 -
Cheap helmets are just as good as expensive helmets safety wise - if they fit and match your usage.0

True in cycle helmets, but I wouldn't class £50 as a high price to pay for keeping my brains on the inside of my head (seems cheap to me, when you're used to £500 helmets, lol).0 -
I use a £40 bell slant - meets all the safety requirements, good rear protection, light. And it fits - that is what counts.0

£30 Specialized Align here, for the same reasons (plus the Trifix straps, which I love).0

yup, went with this one :

fits great, and cheap as hell!0 -
If it fits, good stuff! Though last time I saw something that shape I took a dump in it ;-)0
