Some seriously nice colours going on there. Never heard of that frame make either. Looks lovely though. What fork is that? I think i can just about read "manitou" on the left of the fork lower.
Good luck with the build Bet it would look the bollox once completed.0 -
The frame is a Trek era Klein and based on the Gary Fisher Sugar full suspension design.
Kleins are noted for their smooth welds, internal routing, colourful paint jobs, debossed graphics, fat tubes (for their time) and their fast and agile ride quality.
Btw, the fork is a Manitou R7 MRD 100mm travel, with tweaked Absolute Plus internals.0 -

By your description of the frame, and by the picture, sounds like an awesome frame. I want internal routing and fat tubes FTW. Although, as im a GT fan, welds arent that smooth on GT frames. lol.
As for the colour scheme, its pretty difficult for me to picture what bits of bling would look nice on this...hmmm... maybe you can try for a few parts in green, like green frame and brake bolts, and possibly a green seat...though thats a bit risky as it might look bad. Red ano bits and bobs might look nice aswell. But form over function at the end of the day0 -
Love that frame.....dont like the forks though, i dont think they'll mix well but im still looking forward to the build0

Nice! Looking forward to seeing this one0

Very nice frame!! I've always wanted a Klein hardtail frame. Looking forward to seeing this progress.

To re-do: seal the internal cable routing holes again - I moved the bike before the silicone sealant was completely set.0 -

The fork and seat clamp don't really go IMO. Nice frames though, always liked those.0

I'd have kept away from Blue!
Fork is close but not quite, but heck as long as it rides nice!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -

Thanks. It rides great too - like a hardtail but with the impact of surface bumps softened just enough to convey fun.0 -

My instincts say the colours work together pretty well: two citrus colours joined together by way of using their natural complements (orange/blue, green/red) that also happen to echo the colours of the bars, shock and wheel logo/decals.
But before accepting judgement from my peers, I demand to see your credentials.
Post pictures of your own builds that demonstrate your colour co-ordinating skills. Show me how it should be done.
The rules are simple: no gay white or macho black bikes allowed as they are the safest and easiest to colours co-ordinate. Colours must be of the flamboyant variety.
I will also add: no pie-plates, doughnut holders or bird's nests.0 -
Not a massive fan of the blue but I definitely think the colour of the fork looks great with the frame colour!0

only bits i have changed so far is the KMC gold chain, white mudguards and grey tyres....been looking at tarty bits and was going to go with red (the nipples on the wheels are already red) but i think red wont go so maybe gold - i would also like to put it out there, the bike looks lovely but IMO the forks really don't go, I think you need to get black forks and black everything and let the frame do the talking.0 -
No spoke protector plate, check.
No steerer tube stump, check.
No untidy cable routing at the front, check.
Welcome to my finishing school.
Aqua blue, especially being a pastel colour, is a bit tricky to colour co-ordinate.
I agree that the white forks are overpowering - it's the black Fox decals that make it look a stark white.
Normally, I try to match the surface finishes of the stem and the seatpost. If the seatpost is gloss black then I'd go for a gloss black stem. But, your selection of black seatpost/white stem seems like a deliberate choice and you can enforce that by swapping the white mucky nutz rear guard for a black one.
For further inspiration, I'd go to the supermarket and look at the product packagings to see how aqua blues are used. For example, Savlon Antiseptic Cream has aqua blue, a darker shade of blue (like the fork adjuster), white and a pinky red (like a pastel red) - if I wanted to add red that is how I would do it.
I am considering a gold KMC chain for my next build, but I know they can be tricky to colour co-ordinate. It might make the chain look rusty if you're not careful (which yours does, I'm afraid), unless, you add something else that's gold to give the eye a visual reference to imply that the chain is meant to be that colour.0 -
Nice!
In my middle mountain biking life (in the early naughties, which never actually took off) I was desperate for a Klein.
Btw - I think you get away with the blue bits...just"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes
